InterLibrary Loan (ILL) FAQs

A guide to frequently asked questions for InterLibrary Loans (ILL) at MUSC.

Tracking ILL

How do I track or access my InterLibrary Loan request?

  • Requests can be tracked and accessed by signing into your ILLiad account with your MUSC NetID and using the menu to see the status of a request and access the PDF when available.
  • Please note, most articles and chapters will be available in the ILLiad account for 30 days from receipt and will be removed automatically. Please be sure to retrieve and save received articles from your ILLiad account before the end of the lending period.

Cancellations & Delays

Why has my ILL request been cancelled or delayed?

  • Request processing is subject to multiple factors which may result in delays or cancellations, but the ILL department will always endeavor to provide the fastest service possible.

Copyright Fees

What do copyright fees mean?

  • Journal articles or book chapters that MUSC Library does not own can only be requested 5 times per year if published within the last 5 years due to copyright laws. If more than 5 articles from a journal are requested, MUSC Libraries must pay copyright fees in adherence with the library budget.
