What is Interlibrary Loan (ILL)?

InterLibrary Loan (ILL):

  • ILL is a service provided by MUSC Libraries where articles and chapters that are not already in the MUSC Collections or Databases may be requested from other libraries throughout the United States and the world.

What is ILLiad?

ILLiad: 

  • ILLiad is the system used to request and access articles and chapters requested through InterLibrary Loan. An MUSC NetID is required to sign in to make a request.

Getting Started

Who can use MUSC Library InterLibrary services?

  • Affiliated users of MUSC are eligible to request items through InterLibrary Loan.

  • An MUSC affiliated user is defined as any person currently employed by or attending MUSC. This includes students, faculty, staff, residents, and may include temporary employees, researchers, contractors, and clinicians. Affiliated users have an MUSC email address and a NetID

How much does InterLibrary Loan cost?

  • ILL is a free service for faculty, staff, and students of the MUSC community to obtain material that is not available in MUSC collections.

How many InterLibrary Loan requests can be active on my ILLiad account?

  • There is no limit to the number of requests you can place; however, processing is subject to multiple factors which may cause delays. The ILL department will always endeavor to provide the fastest service possible.
