Adding MUSC Libraries' Resources to Brightspace

This guide is for MUSC instructional designers, course developers, faculty, and staff that want to follow best practices to include accessible links to library resources in Brightspace.

Library Resources in Brightspace

musc library linking service

In order to be compliant with copyright laws, and to provide accessible versions of MUSC library-subscribed resources, one should link to articles and books, rather than posting or emailing PDFs.

PDFs that are downloaded from publisher websites are not accessible. Additionally, due to contracts and tenants of fair use/copyright, all library resources should be placed into Brightspace through a permanent link. PDFs of journal articles or book chapters should not be distributed through Brightspace.

MUSC Libraries offers a service to create authenticated, permanent links to online full text journal articles, ebooks and book chapters, audio and video clips, and other library resources to be easily added into Brightspace courses.

Please fill out this request form to take advantage of this service.

Using the table of contents on the left side of this guide you will find instructions for finding a URL that will remain stable and allow MUSC users to access MUSC Libraries content when on- or off-campus (they will be prompted to enter their NetID to obtain full-text when off-campus).
