Arts in Health

Arts in health care programs involve the integration of creative, performing, and expressive arts into health care and other therapeutic settings with a goal of facilitating health and wellness. Research from numerous studies now indicates that the arts have healing benefits that can reduce pain, anxiety, and depression, as well as lower blood pressure. The arts have also been found to have cost-saving benefits when they are associated with reduced hospital stays and the need for medical visits. They also increase self-esteem and improve quality of life. For more information visit Americans for the Arts or National Organization for Arts in Health.
