I find innovation very exciting since it encourages the development of ideas that bring about positive change, solves problems, and improves human life. My prior endeavors and current commitments have provided me immense opportunities to solve problems innovatively, equipping me with vital skills needed for serving in the Student Innovation Ambassadors Program (SIAP). It has therefore, been a great privilege to represent the College of Graduate Studies, and serve alongside motivated colleagues in the SIAP. I have had the honor of serving as Vice President, and currently President and therein help facilitate activities within the innovation group to help advance discovery among students, and support the culture of innovation at MUSC. |

I graduated from Western Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences. Following that, I earned a Master of Science in Athletic Training at Moravian University. Prior to pursuing nursing, I practiced as a collegiate athletic trainer, and then served as a high school science teacher. The one element all three of these fields have in common is that they require problem solving, which I would say is at the heart of innovation. |
As I pursue nursing and continue to collaborate with other health care professionals at MUSC, it is evident in my education and interactions that innovation is a core value of our institution, as we seek to improve patient care and outcomes. It is an honor and a privilege to represent the College of Nursing as a Student Innovation Ambassador. |

I am a Ph.D. student in the Department of Public Health Sciences. My research interests focus on biostatistics applications in the Bayesian and Machine Learning paradigms. I graduated in 2010 from Clemson University with degrees in mathematics and secondary education, and I worked as a high school mathematics teacher for 8 years. I completed a MS degree in Biostatistics from MUSC in 2021. |
Innovation is important to me, as it drives the progression of knowledge. It allows us to explore new ideas, methodologies, and even technologies that can potentially provide us with a deeper understanding in areas we had previously not been able to analyze. Specifically in the field of healthcare, it can improve diagnostics and patient-centered treatments that could lead to breakthroughs in Medicine and Public Health. |
