Educational Research

This guide contains resources for educators.

Approach

There are two approaches to educational research (Anderson & Arsenault, 2002):

1. Basic- searches for truth in educational theories; research focuses on studies that can test, modify, or develop theories

2. Applied- the pursuit of answers that can be applied to practice; researchers look for solutions to existing problems; applies educational theory to a hypothesis in a specific setting
