September 2022 SHC Noon Lecture to Feature Anna Dhody

Located in the heart of Philadelphia, PA, the Mütter Museum boasts of a collection of curious and compelling anatomical and pathological specimens. Thousands of people visit the unusual museum to see the oddities that line their walls, and yet these historical specimens serve a purpose that goes past the museum’s walls. For the September Student History Club (SHC) Lecture, join Anna Dhody, Curator of the Mütter Museum, for a talk on the significance these items hold in current medical research.

Anna Dhody is an experienced physical and forensic anthropologist. During her tenure at the Mütter Museum, she has curated exhibits and also collaborated with scholars from around the world to conduct research on the Mütter’s collection. Anna is the author of “The Underground Crime Scene: The Use of Archaeological Excavation Techniques in the Recovery of Buried Crime Scene Evidence,” a manual currently used by law enforcement agencies in several countries. She has been invited to advise other institutions on the creation of medical museums in Barbados and Texas.

The lecture will take place Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at 12 PM EST on Zoom. This event is open to the public. Seating is limited and registration is required by Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at 6 PM to reserve your seat and receive login information.
